Nikolai Ponomarov

Nikolai Ponomarov (1918-1997) was a People's Artist of Russia, a Stalin Prize laureate, and one of the most powerful and influential figures in the entire Soviet art establishment. His career was marked by both artistic mastery and significant leadership. He served as the Chairman of the USSR Union of Artists from the 1970s into the 80s and was elected to the Supreme Soviet, the highest legislative body in the USSR.
