Mikhail Petrovich Fomin

Mikhail Petrovich Fomin (1919-1998) was an Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR and a significant master of the Socialist Realist school, whose art was profoundly shaped by his service in World War II. Born in the Penza region, he fought on the front lines and worked as a war artist for the newspaper "For the glory of the Motherland!". After the war, he pursued his formal education at the Kharkiv Art Institute, graduating in 1947.
