Mikhail Kugach

Mikhail Yuryevich Kugach (b. 1939) is an Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and a central figure in one of Russia’s most renowned artistic dynasties. As the son of the celebrated People’s Artist Yuri Kugach, he was raised at the heart of the Russian Realist tradition, primarily at the "Academic Dacha," a creative hub for the nation's premier realist painters. His elite education included the Moscow Secondary Art School and the Surikov Art Institute, from which he graduated in 1962 from the studio of Professor Viktor Tsyplakov. A member of the artists' union since 1965, he continues the powerful legacy of his family.
